Comparing us with someone else?

How the main UK providers are structured on pricing, contracts and support — written so you can judge like for like.

Integrated card payments

One total. One terminal. One report.

A standalone card machine makes your team type the amount twice — once into the till, once into the terminal. One slip and the till total, the bank and your accounts all disagree.

A Zivaro card machine takes the amount from the sale itself. Payments reconcile against your EPOS automatically, refunds stay tied to the original transaction, and the end-of-day figure is one number you can actually trust.

  • Amount sent straight from the till — no rekeying
  • Automatic end-of-day reconciliation
  • Refunds tied to the original sale
  • Countertop, portable and mobile terminals

The terminal

Every part of it, labelled.

Contactless and chip & PIN, Apple Pay and Google Pay, receipts printed on the spot — one device, nothing else to plug in.
What you get

Everything a UK counter needs to take payment.

Every way people pay

Chip and PIN, contactless, Apple Pay and Google Pay across Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express.

Rates quoted against yours

Send your current merchant statement and we price it line by line. You see the difference in pounds before you agree to anything.

No surprise fees

PCI charges, minimum monthly service charges, authorisation fees — we set them out up front instead of burying them in month three.

Secure by design

PCI-DSS compliant terminals with end-to-end encryption. Card numbers never touch your till or your network.

The right terminal for the job

Countertop for a fixed till, portable for table service, mobile with 4G for deliveries, markets and events.

UK support that answers

If a terminal stops on a Saturday you speak to a UK team who can see your setup — not an offshore script.

Card payment rates

Most people we quote are overpaying. Usually without knowing it.

Merchant statements are deliberately hard to read. The headline rate is rarely what you actually pay once authorisation fees, PCI charges, minimum monthly service charges and non-qualified transactions are added on.

Send us a recent statement and we will go through it line by line and show you what the same month would have cost with Zivaro. No obligation, and if you are already on a good deal we will tell you that instead of wasting your time.

  • Priced against your real statement, not a headline rate
  • Every fee listed before you sign anything
  • No long lock-in on the terminal
  • We handle the switch and set the terminal up for you
  • Same rates whether you take £2 or £2,000 a day

Who it suits

Businesses that take card all day.

The busier your counter, the more a rekeyed total costs you.

  • Convenience stores
  • Restaurants
  • Bars and pubs
  • Takeaways with delivery
  • Cafes
  • Butchers and grocers
  • Clothing shops
  • Salons and barbers
  • Market and event traders
  • Multi-site operators

Not on the list? We set up systems for all sorts of UK businesses — tell us what you do and we will tell you honestly whether we are a fit. Get in touch.

Making the move

From quote to first payment.

Send us a recent merchant statement and we will review your current rates against how you actually trade — counter, table service, deliveries or events — then quote like for like.

Once you are happy, we handle the merchant account, terminal configuration and pairing with your EPOS. Your team is trained on the flow, and sales reconcile against the till from day one.

  • Like-for-like quote against your statement
  • Merchant account and setup handled for you
  • Terminal paired to your till before delivery
  • No obligation to switch after the quote

FAQ

Card machine questions, answered.

How much does a card machine cost in the UK?
There are two parts: the terminal itself and the transaction rate. Terminals are available outright or on a low monthly cost, and the rate depends on your card mix and monthly turnover — a coffee shop taking hundreds of small contactless payments is priced differently from a retailer taking a few large ones. That is why we quote against your actual statement rather than advertising one rate that suits almost nobody.
What are good card machine rates for a small business?
Look past the headline percentage. Add up the authorisation fee per transaction, the monthly service charge, PCI compliance fees and any minimum monthly charge, then divide by what you actually took that month. That true cost is the only number worth comparing, and it is the one we work out for you on a free rate review.
Can I switch card machine provider mid-contract?
Usually yes. Tell us your contract end date and any exit fee and we will plan the changeover around it — in some cases it is still cheaper to move early. We handle the merchant application and set the terminal up before you switch, so there is no gap in taking payments.
What is an integrated card machine?
One that receives the amount directly from your EPOS till instead of your staff typing it in again. It removes mistyped totals, makes end-of-day reconciliation automatic, and ties refunds back to the original sale. Standalone terminals cannot do any of that.
Which card payments can I accept?
Chip and PIN, contactless, Apple Pay and Google Pay across Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express. Contactless works up to the current UK limit, and higher amounts fall back to chip and PIN automatically.
Do you have portable and mobile card machines?
Yes. Countertop terminals sit by a fixed till, portable terminals work on WiFi around a venue for table service, and mobile terminals use 4G for deliveries, markets and events. The Zivaro A920Pro is portable with the receipt printer built in.
How quickly can I start taking payments?
Once the merchant account is approved — usually a few working days — the terminal arrives configured and ready. We set it up with your till and stay on the line for the first transaction.
Do I need a separate receipt printer?
Not with the A920Pro. The printer is inside the terminal, so there is nothing extra on the counter and no second roll to keep stocked.
